Romano Di Nillo, Broadway Percussionist, Come From Away
When Romano Di Nillo was playing drums in the Gower Youth band in St. John’s, he never imagined that one day he’d be playing the bodhran in an award-winning Broadway musical – about his home province, no less. Romano’s career has taken him all over, but he’s never lost the sense of community that comes from growing up in Newfoundland and Labrador. He freelanced as a percussionist in Toronto before going on the road across North America, for seven years! But once he heard about Come From Away, a story close to his heart, he knew he wanted in. Lo and behold, while in St. John’s, he bumped into someone involved with the show. And thanks to our province’s strong sense of community? The rest, as they say, is history.
